BARRIE - Simcoe County Warden Cal Patterson and members of county council gave Georgian College a $500,000 boost to support learning opportunities that benefit students from across the region.
The gift is part of the county’s $4-million multi-year pledge to the college, which has four campuses within the county.
“Our students, the surrounding community and employers all benefit because these facilities exist,” said MaryLynn West-Moynes, college president and CEO, in a release. “It is because of education champions like the County of Simcoe that Georgian College has increased enrolment by 83% over the past 10 years, offering more space, a technology-enhanced learning environment, and relevant, hands-on work experience, all designed to prepare the region’s future workforce.”
