BARRIE - Barrie councillors are pushing ahead with a $3.1-billion, 20-year growth and infrastructure renewal plan.
On Wednesday, councillors gave initial approval to master plans and a fiscal impact analysis designed to accommodate a city of 210,000 people and 101,000 jobs by 2031.
"Three billion dollars is a massive number, a scary number, but it's also a 20-year number," Mayor Jeff Lehman said. "I'm trying to put all of these numbers in context tonight.
"The fiscal impact analysis is not just for the cost of growth, but to fix our existing infrastructure."
